Welcome to a virtual workshop that will walk you through the first steps of your academic journey! This worthwhile webinar, lasting no more than 1.5 hours, is well-designed to warmly welcome new doctoral researchers at the outset of their scholarly path at the University of Stuttgart.

The session will cover the critical aspects of conducting research ethically and responsibly, setting a solid foundation for their future projects and studies.
This introductory presentation will facilitate an understanding of the fundamental principles underpinning ethical scientific conduct, discuss the avoidance of common pitfalls in research, and highlight the importance of maintaining integrity throughout their academic careers. The goal is to equip the new researchers with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in their respective fields from day one.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand and articulate key principles and standards of scientific integrity applicable across disciplines.
  • Recognize scientific misconduct and implement strategies to prevent it in accordance with DFG guidelines.
  • Apply ethical considerations and procedural standards in the planning and execution of research.
  • Assess academic work critically, focusing on integrity and scientific contributions.
  • Engage in constructive feedback, reflecting on ethical conflicts and solutions in research.
