The aim of this interactive presentation is to provide you with all the wisdom and ways you need for a good start as a doctoral researcher, to pursue your research project with wise workflow and to wonderfully wrap up your doctoral journey successfully.

The presentation is based on a multidimensional approach to doctoral processes since experience has shown that productive doctoral processes are easier if formal, research- and supervision-related as well as personal-psychological aspects are considered from the outset. Accordingly, the presentation will cover the following topics:

  • Formal level: From acceptance as a doctoral candidate to the doctoral certificate
  • Scientific level: Rules and support services for research data management and publishing
  • Supervisory relationship: Doctoral agreement, clarified role expectations, code of conduct in the German academic system
  • Qualification program and support services for doctoral researchers
  • Mental and emotional aspects: Creating your research flow and appreciating your resources
  • Life-situation specific aspects
  • Career development programs
