Referent*in: Prof. Dr. Luisa Sabine Heß (worked from 2008 to 2010 at RWTH Aachen University with a focus on the acquisition of third-party funding in the field of telemedicine, project leading in the research project "Smart Innovation in Mechanical and Plant Engineering", and the conception of an interdisciplinary seminar program at the university. From 2010 to 2011 she led an European consulting project on qualification requirement analysis at a research institute. She currently holds a professorship for corporate management and human resource management at the Cologne Business School and teaches at the Distance-learning University of Hagen and the University of Applied Sciences Cologne).

Working on the doctoral thesis is usually the biggest project, candidates were confronted with so far. Usually this process takes a few years and no one is asking for continuous progress. The situation of research assistance working in the university is a big challenge. It´s not only about mastering the doctoral project it´s also about coping with the challenges in teaching and those which come along with research projects. It´s difficult to organize and coordinate the every-day-work efficiently. This workshop focuses on the reflection of the own role and on the ability to organize and motivate oneself over the long distance of the doctoral process. The workshop aims to set priorities and to make an efficient use of the time available.
