Office of the GRADUS Graduate Academy

The aim and task of GRADUS is to provide all doctoral students optimal opportunities for qualification at the University of Stuttgart by creating support structures in cooperation with the faculties and existing institutions. This involves creating a climate in which outstanding junior scientists from Germany and abroad can develop their potential to its full. The contribution made by GRADUS to ensuring a climate of this kind is reflected in the tasks that its office carries out:

  • Advising and supporting both current and prospective doctoral students in all interdisciplinary doctoral research matters
  • Supporting the creation of Graduate Schools, Research Training Groups and other structured graduate programmes
  • Providing administrative support for structured graduate programmes
  • Advising the faculties in the creation, maintenance and ongoing development of support structures for doctoral research projects outside structured graduate programmes
  • Developing standards for doctoral training and qualification in cooperation with the faculties and the structured graduate programmes
  • Developing and coordinating an interdisciplinary qualification programme
  • Increasing equal opportunities
  • Fostering a cooperative, interdisciplinary and internationally-oriented doctoral research culture
